I am concerned that I am numbering these rooms wrong. It feels like everything is out of order. Oh well. We forge ahead.
Only one room again tonight. Motivation is fleeting. Not out of lack of interest, but despair at it only being mid-week.
Room 4 - Bedroom
Cards Drawn: 6 of Hearts, 4 of Clubs, 4 of Diamonds
Ambience: Incredible, Odorous.
Objects in Location: Ignored—Saltpeter found.
Condition of Location: Empty, except in one corner.
The few steps it takes to pass back over the kitchen threshold and across the living room are disorienting. The acrid smell that assaults me when I push through the door in the opposite wall only makes things worse. My head swims. I feel faint. The smell pokes and prods at my memory. I try to recall, but my mind feels like it is still catching up with my body. Trying comes to terms with the warped world I just plunged myself back into.
Everything snaps back into place when I step fully into the room. It’s dim, but its not just the lack of light making it so. There is a sort haze that lingers in the air. The smell is stronger, still poking and prodding at my memories. It makes my brain itch.
Fireworks.
My brother and I would get a mess of them as kids. Cause mischief. Find novel ways to blow things up. Occasionally fire or throw them at one another. The smell reminds me of those times.
Through the haze, I see nothing much at all. The room is empty save for the plush shag carpet, a couple more doors, and…
Maybe not so empty after all.
In the corner is a mound of white powder. My brain itches. I know that it is Saltpeter without even knowing wat Saltpeter is. This will help close the portal. I dig through my pack, grab something to put some in, and consider the two doors at the end of the room.
